Myrna Munroe Foundation Background
The Foundation was founded in 2004 by the Munroe family in honor of their matriarch, the late Myrna Munroe. A tireless volunteer, Myrna Munroe’s spirit of charity and strength of character left a significant impression on both those that knew her and those she served. The Munroe family thought that the best way to honor her memory was to continue the work that brought her so much joy. To learn more, do read Our Mission Statement.
Since its inception, the Foundation has made over $70,000.00 in cash donations to a variety of worthy charities icluding The Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa, The Redlands Christian Migrant Association, The Hospice of the Suncoast Florida, H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center and The American Red Cross, among others.
Who We Are
As the saying goes, “It takes a village,” and it is the same whether you’re speaking about raising a child or running a successful charity. In addition to the countless volunteers and generous sponsors, the following board members have been instrumental in the Foundations success. They are: Foundation President Barrie Munroe, Secretary James Munroe, Treasurer Randy Young, and Directors Michelle Wolf, Colleen Simko, and Teri Skinner.
Our Goals
The Foundation’s proud to announce that the construction of the playground designed to be completely accessible to disabled children is complete. For this project the Foundation partnered with the City of St Pete Beach, Florida. This new playground is located at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, the new city recreation complex now open. With fewer than 10 such facilities in the state, this “boundless playground” will provide all children a place where there are no limits, no exclusion and no barriers to fun. To learn more about this playground, please check out the City of St Pete Beach web site.
